Jack London Square

Let me tell you.

This might have just been one of my favorite outings. After weeks of just plopping around home and Pleasanton, with Justin just having had his knee surgery, we decided it was time for a "date day".

From Pleasanton we hopped on the Bart (train) and took it to Oakland, when we got off, we grabbed an Uber and landed ourselves in Jack London. The vibe is not something you would find just anywhere, it is alternatively funky.
Little did we know that the vibe we were greeted by was because it was a bike day, promoting the use of bicycles instead of cars.

Bling bicycles, bikes with spinners on their wheels, bikes covered in fur, and bikes with loud speakers playing every genre around. I've been amazed at a lot of things since moving to the US, and this day is another one on my list. Event or no event, I would highly recommend an outing to Jack London square in the day when the sun is shining. I've done Jack London in the evening and felt it lacked a lot of the daylight vibe, but that can greatly depend on who you're there with :) The evening can get cold and many of the cute little shops along that strip will be closed at night; so do it in the day. Us girls like a little browse around, that's what I say.

Ok the food!!!
Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine.
This is a Thai restaurant with the best Thai food I've had in San Francisco thus far. Its a must!
I always order the Tiger Prawn Pad Thai, its my absolute best...comfort food! That being said I have tried other things on their menu, their wings, The crab fried rice (oh my gosh!!!), papaya salad, you name it they've got it. you have to put them on your list.

Disclaimer, I'm no foodie but I know that the food is good, and good for you :)

After lunch we thought we'd take a walk around to let the food coma settle, and we stumbled upon a reggae band (with one guy playing the wash board -how fun) playing in a park who got their power from people riding bicycles, the more the peoples peddled the more these batteries charged and the longer the band played, it was so fun. I didn't give it a go I was too full from lunch.

For the sake of not boring you with all the details I really do recommend a day trip to Jack London, you wont be sorry. You can watch the pretty yachts and sailing boats drift around the harbor, and take lots of photos.

Final stop of the day was the Ben & Jerry's ice-cream store, I needed some desert. The experience of eating your ice-cream on a bench outside while watching the trains come past is really so fun, I literally felt like a kid in a candy store.

Eat, drink, explore and be merry.

xx
